The week Han came to visit: Happy List week ending 22 Nov 09
So, my friend Han stayed with me this week. It made me very happy. We hung out, strolled the city, and ate lots and lots of cupcakes.
I tried some new stuff, too: bubble tea (it’s AWESOME. Am now addicted), also, Japanese breakfast. Ok, that was after Han left, but I was a little trepidatious about it. It was also awesome, and yes, I think I might need to do that again.
Add to that spending a great day with the lovely Miss Hayley today: we did yoga together, she bought me chai and lunch, and then she gave me a pedicure! Heaven! A Very Good Week, all around.
The week in pictures (all images courtesy of Han Yu and badded up by me using Poladroid):

Following our pasta up with Pimms at Mme Brussels (don't you just love how my eyes are closed in almost every pic?)

Not ALL for me, I promise. I do appreciate how Poladroid can bad photos up. In the original of this, I had a head.
More honourable mentions on the Happy List:
- Getting stacks of magazines out of my local library. Especially Frankie. I love that mag, enough to actually buy it most months. But I haven’t yet read all the back issues
- Setting a budget and actually sticking to it. The sense of achievement is immeasurable
- Cherries+mangoes+peaches+nectarines, bought and the Victoria Market. Summer fruit, yummmm
- Spending a weekend at home. And I mean, really at home. I didn’t even go out on Saturday. I am going out tonight though
- Strutting around town in my favourite boots and hot hand-me-down jeans
- People who know the difference between ‘your’ and you’re’. They are rather rare these days. Also, ‘lose’ and ‘loose’. Seriously, one is a verb, the other an adjective. Very big difference. I am glad there are a few nerds out there who still care about these things. It makes me feel less alone
- Dating hiatus. Yes, I am on one. You know how I was dating? It Didn’t Go Well, and I got tired. So, until the New Year, there will be no dating for me. It’s kinda fun, actually, just as the dating was at the beginning. But it begins to wear, going on lots of first or second dates and always having to be groomed. When the time is right, and I feel ready, the opportunity will present. and the guy will be an apostrophe nerd, like me. This is how these things go. Until then, it’s fun being free & single
- Being the person people call when they need cheering up
- Having several people say to me this week, “I want your life’. Believe me, you don’t, but it’s great that you think I am happy enough to warrant life envy!

I love the polaroid software too! It’s so fun! So jealous of all the cupcakes and the fun time you guys had, wish i was there XOXO
I wish you were here, too! It could/would have been like a little Killarney reunion!
xoxo
I had such an awesome time nadine! Thank you. Karen, when you come, those cupcakes will be on the top of the must-do list!
Oh my! First, thanks for the poladroid info. It is so much fun! Second, I think food is one of life’s most simple and greatest joys. Third, the dating does suck. But, I found that it was one of those things when I finally just gave it up to the universe (or whatever spiritual higher power you like) things fell into place and the universe brought me exactly what I needed. Funny how that happens when you least expect it. I feel like there is so much that you are going through right now that I can relate to. And, while much of it just sucks your (not you’re
) strength and grace will get you through.
love the polaroids, so retro! ‘lose’ and ‘loose’ — yeah, that bugs me, too! as someone who went to grad school (tho never finished) for English — AAARGH!
hey, I sent you an email about what to tell Mark for me!
I meant PolaDroid!
I know, how cool is poladroid?
Miss Babs, thank you so much for the support. It’s been so good having someone (albeit on the other side of the world) who totally gets where I am at. Also, watching how well things have turned out for you subsequently. That’s a valuable lesson in hope.
xo
hey Nadine..we must have had good English teachers in SA.. I am a total your/you’re, lose/loose fusspot. I must admit to on occasion mixing up there/their (perhaps because I type too fast) and then dying of embarrassment after email containing aforementioned error has already been sent…oops.
have a fantastic week.
